Small Kitchen Design Ideas

Who does not want to have a comfortable and cozy kitchen? Having small kitchen is not a problem. There are small kitchen design ideas for the owners as you. The main idea for the design is saving the space as much as possible. Moreover, maximizing the limited space is a must. Therefore, do not use too much appliances or furniture. Then how to store your utensils? It is not a problem. To storage the pots, pans and everything in between, you can use a small island. In addition, for another option, a block cart is also useful for small kitchen design. Unfortunately, the size of your kitchen is fixed - the walls are solid and you cannot create more space unless you extend the room physically. Many kitchen spaces, whether large or small, are designed for looks as opposed to functionality and it takes a skilled designer to incorporate both aspects to create a beautiful and workable area. Clutter: Look inside your existing cupboards and discover what is there. Is there "internal clutter"? You may find most of the clutter in the hard to get at areas of cabinets - especially the corner cupboards that only have one entry door. Also, look at the top shelves of the highest cupboards; are there items that have never been used? Or, worse still, are there food items that have passed their "use by" dates. This thought process and activity of throwing out unused items often upsets some people. If you need some moral support, get a friend or relative to help you. Have a "De-Clutter Party."
The first thing that you have to do is down size everything! If you have a small kitchen, then it is safe to say that you can not have a huge refrigerator or a massive microwave. These are things that people tend to forget, but everything that you put in your kitchen is going to take up space. Some of these things you can not live without. For example, most people need a refrigerator nowadays, thus you can not control the fact that it has to be in your kitchen. However, you can control how big it is. This means that you are going to have to opt out of getting bigger appliances to put in your kitchen, even if it's a better deal. When dealing with a small kitchen, you have to play with the hand that you have been dealt, and that may mean making smaller things work for you! Next, you are going to want to bring some light into your small kitchen. Most small kitchen design problems stem from the fact that there are no windows in the kitchen. Thus, it makes the small kitchen look very closed in and very dark. A good way to fix this problem, as well as a good idea to make it look bigger is to add light wherever you can. The best way to do that is to mount small lights under your cabinets. These are lights that you are not going to be able to see, but the affect that they have on your kitchen is going to be huge! Not only that, but a bright kitchen is a cozy kitchen. Since you have a small kitchen anyway, that is a good look to go for. Most small kitchen design ideas are centered around this very theme.
Why a cart? Do you know that it is very resourceful and efficient for small kitchen design? All you need to do is sliding the cart next to the kitchen sink. When you do not need it, you can slide it in. In an instant, your kitchen seems larger because of the unseen storage. Instead of using heavy and full carving cupboard for your plates and china, you can use an open plate rack. Just add it into the wall and voila! You have an extra storage without wasting your space. Next tips for small kitchen design is using medium lamp. The lamp is not too bright or too dark to make the room looks larger. Kitchen Cabinets: You can choose wall cabinets that are taller (around 900mm) than a standard size cabinet. This maximises the use of wall space for storage. Some people place items on top of the wall cabinets which have the same affect however, this can make the kitchen look cluttered.
